Nadia desktop wallpaper Linux Raspberry OS June 2024

Just in time for the summer, Nadia relaxing on a beach now replaces the USS Enterprise wallpaper I’d had on my Raspberry Pi for a while now. I had to sudo apt install Kazam because Raspberry OS does not come with a default screen grabber that simply uses the print screen button on the keyboard.

My new Linux desktop for April 2023

I’ve changed my desktop wallpaper. Here’s what it looks like now. Some side street in Japan. I cannot recall if this came with my distro or if I found it somewhere on the net.

Will you get down on your knees right now and accept Linux as your personal computer’s operating system and renounce the demons of Gates and Cook? Hallelujah!

My current Linux desktop, Feb. 2023

I found a sexy Nadia fanart picture to use for my wallpaper that reminds me of warmer weather. Neat. Mayu and I are nearly finished re-watching the series on the bluray I bought with gift card money I received for Christmas. Pretty soon I’ll see the Nautilus rescue the Eiffel Tower from collapsing onto Paris at the end.

My new Sega arcade stick arrived this evening!

Oh yeah! A month or so ago I was outbid on one of these on Yahoo Auctions Japan, but this month I scored. It’s a Virtua Stick for the Sega Saturn. Over 20 years ago, I had the opportunity to get the double-sized (2 players) version for about 8000 yen, but declined. I couldn’t afford it at the time, and plus it was just too big. This Virtua Stick gives you the feel of playing on an Astro City or Blast City cab at home. It has autofire switches and a slide to set its rate of fire. It was sold as “junk” because it hadn’t been confirmed, but so far it seems to work just fine. It was a bit filthy, but I cleaned it up. FYI: Zippo lighter oil works well to remove price tag residue.

Oh, and what’s that next to it? That’s my Mayflash Saturn to USB converter. It works in Linux and this evening I played some Pac-Man on my new Virtua Stick in Final Burn via RetroPie.
