Jibanyan and Robonyan from Youkai Watch by Bandai

October 2014 Youkai Watch is a HUGE phenomenon in Japan currently. It seems that it may possibly be the next biggest thing since Pokemon. My daughter built these kits, and I painted them. These are neat kits, but Bandai skimped on the plastic a bit and the backs of their arms have big, gaping holes. I first tried to fill the holes with Tamiya Putty, but this was not a good idea since it is lacquer-based and it weakened the plastic a bit. Fortunately, it dried solid without damaging the plastic. I then learned that it is best to use Tamiya epoxy putty.

I used Mr. Color 79, Shine Red for Jibanyan's color. For Robonyan, I used a mixture of Mr. Color 57 Metallic Blue Green, 28 Steel, and 8 Silver. Since these are Bandai kits aimed at children, they come with stickers. Jibanyan comes with interchangeable faces. I printed out copies of scans of his eyes and applied these decals onto the face. The result looks very nice, and a lot sturdier than the crappy, easily-ripped stickers that seem to peel off too easily.
