Lost In Space B9 Robot

March 2014

My good friend Oscar bought this for my wife Mayu's birthday a few years ago. I finally got around to building this for her. Her birthday had already passed a few days prior, so I spent my birthday weekend working on this. I started building it Friday night, worked on it off and on over the weekend, and finished it Sunday afternoon.

For the gray legs, arms and other parts, I used Tamiya AS-27, Gunship Gray. For the silver body, I used Tamiya AS-12, Bare Metal Silver. These are rattle can sprays, and they matched the colors perfectly, I think. As for the legs, I used my airbrush to paint them Tamiya XF-16, Flat Aluminum. According to pictures and videos I found of this robot, this was a good color choice. I hand-painted the treads Tamiya XF-1, flat black. The telemetry sensors on either side of the robot's head were hand-painted Tamiya X-11, Chrome Silver. The control panel surface on the robot's chest was airbrushed Mr. Color 61, Burnt Iron. The red, green, blue, yellow, and white buttons of the control panel were painted a mixture of Testors and Tamiya enamels. The red hands were Testors Gloss Red enamel. The clear parts were dipped in Future.

It was a belated birthday gift, but it made Mayu happy.
