I was a latecomer to the Voltron TV show, and the Voltron I (aka Vehicle Voltron) was the first one I saw. I loved the epic space opera feel to the show, with the epic space fleet battles. When I eventually saw Voltron III, (aka Lion Voltron)I didn't quite care for it as much. The whole princess and the castle thing, and the witch... it was more fantasy than space opera, and I just was not interested in fantasy at the time. So, Vehicle Voltron, or Dairugger XV as it is known in Japan, is by far my favorite Voltron.
I was slowly working on this model over a span of a few years. I'd get lazy, do something else, then come back to it for a while, then lost track of it again. This was the first model I had airbrushed enamel paints. Some of this model turned out great, some of it was a bit disappointing. It was a learning process, for sure. The most difficulty I had was the pinstriping on the two truck feet, especially the black truck. I used masking tape to try to make the pinstriping as straight as I could, but I just couldn't get it as good as I wanted.
So this model was done exclusively with Testors gloss enamel paints. Fortunately, there aren't many colors involved. Red, blue, yellow, black, white, silver, and light blue for the canopies.
