Guwazine

December 2011

It had been a long while since my last entry on this list, which was the Nautilus from Nadia. In between there was my baby being born, and a subsequent long hiatus of any model completions. For a while, I just painted anime figures that came with models and such. I just avoided anything that required using my airbrush because once I would get my airbrush all set up and the paint is ready to go, if my wife would ask me to help her with the baby in an emergency, I'd be in the middle of something that is not easily abandoned without gumming up the airbrush with dried paint. So consequently, I didn't do much modeling.

However, I did work on a few models from time to time, and I used my airbrush sparingly. One model I set my mind to completing this year was my Tamiya Honda Fit model, which I ended up making lots of mistakes on, but the end result was fantastic. After this, I decided to finish up a few projects I'd been occasionally working on for quite a long time. One such model I finished was the Guwazine from Mobilesuit Gundam. I really like space ships, so I made this. I made some mistakes, but it turned out fairly nice. I used Tamiya paints, for the most part. I used the leftover concoction of red I'd used for Char's Zaku I made with my wife, and I added some more red to make it redder. The base was left unpainted, to show the difference between the color of plastic it came molded in, and the finished result. I painted the letters on the base with gloss yellow Testors paint. Oh yeah, and the windows on the ship were also that same yellow paint.
