MSA-005 Methuss

April 2007

I love the Methuss because of it's unique design. Zeta Gundam and Double Zeta Gundam produced some very awesome mecha designs that are different than the traditional designs. I like the pistols that flip down and the beam sabers tucked away in the leg compartments.

Building the model didn't take much time, however there was some painting involved since I threw away the decals except for the one for the eye. Again I did the flat black enamel plus Zippo lighter fluid trick to do the panel lines. I used green enamel mixed with silver enamel to do the green trim. I had originally tried to use Gundam Markers for the painting, but they were a bit difficult to control in some areas so I had to start over from scratch. Good thing I have a Gundam Marker Eraser pen!

This model is transformable, although the parts don't seem to totally come together the way the probably should. Perhaps this is the problem with most transformable mecha models. This model also has a way to link up with the Hyaku Shiki Mega Bazooka Launcher model, which I do not have. (I only have the regular Hyaku Shiki model.)

My main gripe is that it is necessary to take apart the hands in order to make them grip the sabers or the pistols. I'd rather be able to glue them together permanently because they are fairly flimsy. If I bump the beam saber on accident, the hand comes apart and it could someday prove difficult to find the half of the hand after it flies across the floor.
