Yamato

I hate to admit it, but I've never seen the classic show Yamato aka Starblazers. I missed out on this show when I was a kid. I'm hoping that the show will get a decent release on Region 1 DVD.

Building this model posed some difficulties. This model has some very small, intricate parts. The red lower half of the hull and the gray upper half of the hull are both split in half and then the gray deck goes on top of this. Either the model wasn't made right or I screwed up because the red halves seemed to go together, but the gray part that goes on top of this seemed to be spread apart. The deck didn't fit very well as a result. Painting was very minimal, fortunately. The only decals were these white stripes that go around the barrels of the larger gun turrets, but trying to wrap these around the small barrels was pretty much impossible, so I threw these decals out. The three larger gun turrets and the two smaller gun turrets are made to be rotated and raised and lowered. Putting the tiny little guns on was actually fairly fun with tweezers and a tiny bit of glue each.
