While nothing beats the incredible Yodobashi Camera in the Akihabara area of Tokyo, Yamada Denki's Labi 1 building next to Takasaki Station is the next best thing. Labi 1 is like a smaller version of Yodobashi Camera, far larger than a typical Yamada Denki location. On a smaller scale, it spans multiple floors sellingAppliances, electronics, computers, as well as entertainment. Retail spans from the basement level to the 4th floor, and the 5th floor is home to several restaurants. Yodobashi has an entire floor dedicated to hobbies, toys, and video games. So does Labi 1. While Yodobashi's modeling section is immense and a hobbyist can spend at least an hour or two there, Labi 1 provides the next best thing. Having recently relocated to the basement level, I wanted to sneak some pictures on my recent visit there on a rainy Friday evening.
Coming down the escalator, this is what you see first.
So many supplies and tools. The picture to the left is the Tamiya paint selection, both acrylic and lacquer.
GSI Creos paints, both acrylic and lacquer, on the right.
Left: Gaia Notes paints. Right: V-Color paints for sofubi kits.
Car kits.
Military.
Left: I found this sign rather interesting. It asks customers to stop bugging the store employees dumb questions like "Do you like xxx? How about yyy?" and stop annoying them with sharing your SNS, email, telephone number, etc. Apparently the employees got tired of annoying plamo fans and had to put this sign up.
Left: Sega Saturn and Sony Playstation models. Right: Eggplanes, Arpeggio of Blue Steel, and other stuff.
Left: Yamato kits. Right: Kotobukiya's character kits, including Rockman/Megaman.
Left: Star Wars and Cyber Formula. Right: Evangelion crayfish models... just because. Don't ask questions.
Left: Sakura Taisen. Right: Macross.
Plenty of Macross.
Fate: Grand Order, Pokemon, and Girl Gun.
Right: aftermarket Gundam waterslide decals.
Bandai's various models of stuff like Pokemon, Dragonball Z, Kamen Rider, etc.
Oh my gosh. Gundam. Any dope in America who thinks that Bandai is better off focusing on Star Wars instead does not understand the market here.
Right: Nadia and the Secret of Blue Water model kit by Bellfine. Bellfine is a pretty new model company. Kotobukiya had just released a new kit of the Nautilus from Nadia and now Bellfine released this set of the Nautilus, Grantank, and two Garfish submaries. I don't know the scales of these.
Completed models on display.
Next: stupid Ukraine virtue signalling is stupid.
