Left: A flickering light gave the image of a welder working on this TIE Fighter in the hangar. Can TIE Fighters really land on those solar panels, though? They're shown in the movies to be stored on racks. The Star Wars books and comics show them landing on the panels though, and it seems impractical as to how the pilots can get down from such a height. Right: The minute detail on this Death Star under construction was amazing, especially with the lights. I took several pictures of this, but most turned out out of focus, unfortunately.
Left: That same Republic Star Destroyer. Right: The Enterprise D!
Left: Great lighting inside the X-Wing's cockpit. Right: Pretty much every Viper from Battlestar I know of, at least.
Left: Dioramas are neat-o. Right: Nadia is sexy!
Left: A single car train passes over a river. Right: It's Spike's Swordfish II from Cowboy Bebop! This model has become hard to find and expensive.
Both the white and black ships from the videogame, Ikaruga. I'm glad Kotobukiya made these models! Must buy!
The original Enterprise.
Left: The Macross SDF-1. Right: A great F-14 Tomcat "Jolly Rogers."
Left: VROOM! Right: Check out the great camoflauge detailing in this pic and the next!
Right: Gundam's famous "The Last Shooting" pose.
Left: The built a White Base big enough to fit HG Gundam models inside! Right: Someone knocked over the GMs!
Left: The Tamiya bus, yay. Right: The Subaru BRZ car on display in Tamiya's display area.
Tamiya's model of the above car. Sexy!
Right: I am so tempted to get into Tamiya's new sweets decoration series. So cute!
At the Tamiya booth.
Tamiya's new military kits on display.
More stuff on display. Tamiya had the biggest display area.
Finemolds' Star Wars kits are exceptional!
I was surprised to see Leiji Matsumoto's space ships are also being released by Finemolds now. So Ban Dai, Hasegawa, and now Finemolds are releasing Matsumoto's works.
Right: Finemolds also releases Miyazaki stuff, like Kurenai no Buta and Laputa.
The Bandai booth was so crowded. It was great to see new Zeta kits being released, but I hope Double Zeta won't get ignored for long.
Cars from Night Rider and The Road Warrior on display.
Aoshima's new Nautilus from Nadia took me by surprise. I built the Bandai Nautilus, but this Aoshima one has great detail, and even includes the Grandis!
Right: Aoshima has aquired the molds for Thunderbirds kits.
While I normally associate Aoshima with great car kits, I always think of great airplane kits with Hasegawa.
Left: Machine Kreiger kits. Right: IDOLM@STER airplanes: silly, but charming.
Ultraman car and Captain Harlock space fighters.
Virtual On kits! Kotobukiya used to release these, but now Hasegawa is now making them. Interestingly enough, different-sized robotic breasts are optional for the Fei Yin robot. Bust sizes come in perfect, average, and huge. Weird, huh?
Hasegawa's display had several great models and dioramas presented.
Left: plenty of models on sale. Right: Eggplanes (Tamago Hikouki) are so cute!
Macross!
Captain Harlock!
Left: The Shinden from the Ace Combat game. Right: N-scale model trains.
Left: The Hatsune Miku truck was available for purchase at the Aoshima booth. Right: This is a Hasegawa model of the SR-71 Blackbird, but with IDOLM@STER decals. I told the gentlemen at that booth that my dad was part of the project that worked on the Blackbird, and they were impressed.
Left: This Miku car was parked out in front of the event. Right: The Twin Messe, where the event was held.
I got to meet two famous Gunpla masters, Max Watanabe and the incredibly sexy Tomoe Oogoshi ("054"). I had them both sign my Gunpla book!
