Summer Wonder Festival 2015, page 2

July 2015

It's the girl from Daicon V!

It's the Nadesico B and C from Martian Successor Nadesico.

Left: Pervy fun at WonFes! Woody's "rape face" kills me every time.
Right: Alfine from Crusher Joe!

Left: The intricate pattern on this GK girl's coat is provided by waterslide decals. Very beautiful!

Left: A GK of a ship from the G-Rev shmup game Senko no Ronde. There was also the ship from Border Down, but I apparently forgot to take a picture of it. You can see it in the video, though.

Dream Hunter Rem is an old OVA series from the '80s in which a girl enters the dreams of those victimized by supernatural spirits and such to free them. There was also a followup OVA series in the early '90s. Apparently it's been revived again as a manga, and here is a figure of it. I'm not sure I'm interested. I'd much rather own a GK of the old version.

Left: The Evangelion-mobile. Yay.

A Hasegawa Eggplane mascot girl.

Left: This guy is a comedian here in Japan. I know him best from the show, "You wa Nani Shi ni Nippon e?" ("Why Did You Come to Japan?") Check it out on YouTube sometime.
Right: It's the robot from Metropolis.

OK, at this point, I hadn't really bought much at all at the show. But then I saw this seller's 1:48 resin GK of the Garmilus starfighter from Yamato 2199, and I had to buy it! It was a bit expensive, but since I hadn't really bought anything up until this point, I could afford it. I nearly bought those SD Yamato starfighters I showed on the previous page.

Left: It's the Soyokaze from Irresponsible Captain Tylor! This is from the same vendor as the Garmilus starfighter.

Right: Weird. Just weird.

Here's Rin Tohsaka lounging around in her knickers. Because hey, who doesn't?

It's a little-known secret that the bust sizes of Evangelion girls increases by at least two cup sizes when their bodies come into contact with motorcycles.

Left: Fuurai is a character from the Mystery Dungeon series.

Left: Here's Mercedes from the game Odin Sphere and Morrigan from Dark Stalkers.

Left: A helmet from Patlabor.

OK, so a couple of years ago, I made the acquaintance of one of the vendors who was selling a resin GK of Dirty Pair's starship, the Lovely Angel. There have been many different versions of this ship among the TV show, OVA, and movies. The one I bought from him was the red one. He was happy to meet a Dirty Pair fan from America. His name is Hiro. Last year I bought another version of the ship for someone in France who had seen my coverage of the 2013 Summer WonFes. So anyhow, I had contacted him again this year to see what he was selling. When I saw him at the event, he introduced me to some Studio Nue employees. Studio Nue is the anime studio behind Yamato, Captain Harlock, Crusher Joe, Macross, Orguss, Dirty Pair, and several other famous anime. The woman wearing a Darth Vader T-shirt who Hiro introduced me to was Keiko Katou from Studio Nue, who you see in the picture with myself. Hiro used a word I was unfamiliar with, so he described her as the "model" or the "heart" of Dirty Pair. I looked up Studio Nue's Japanese Wiki article and could not find her name. I'll have to get confirmation from Hiro about what exactly her role was. I also met her husband, who I assume is Naoyuki Katou, one of the founders of Studio Nue. He liked my Yamato 2199 T-shirt. Hiro told him of my connection with Aoshima, and Mr. Katou said, "Oh, then you must be familiar with 'Arpeggio of Blue Steel.'" I told him that I'm familiar with the name, but I haven't seen the anime. He asked me to watch it. I'll give it a try!

OK, so next is where I began tackling the third leg of the event, in which the major companies have their goods on display. Let's start with Sega.

These Evangelion figures are pretty cool!

Here are Kan-Colle girls. I have to admit that their character designs are pretty cool. I'll need to start familiarizing myself with these characters, since this anime is the big cash cow for Aoshima right now. I've never seen it, but I have seen students of mine with the character goods and even novels for Kan-Colle at my schools.

Here's Plum! Based in Nagano Prefecture, this company makes anime figures and plastic models. I have plenty of badges of their Nagano city mascots on my backpack, and when I showed them these, they were very happy! I told them that I've visited their stores in Akihabara and Suwa, and that my in-laws live in Nagano Prefecture. The company president gave me some freebies, but I insisted on paying for at least one item.

This is what I was hoping to see at Plum's booth! This is a 3D-printed mockup of what their plastic model of the plane from the anime, Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise, will look like. It's slated for release next year!

I'm not sure, but I believe these robot plamo are original creations of Plum.

Left: Plum is also coming out with a Cardcaptor Sakura figure.
Right: The next several pictures were taken at Medicom Toy's booth. Unfortunately, there was no Uglydoll merchandise there this year.

Oh yes! I could see Saber's panties!
