Summer Wonder Festival 2014

July 2014

July 27th was the Summer Wonder Festival, and I spent the weekend in Tokyo to attend this event. Without further ado, here's a photo gallery of this event that covers garage kits, plastic models, figures, and various other hobbies and crafts. You can click on these images for larger versions. Enjoy.

Left: This figure of Lynn Minmay was the first thing that caught my eye at the show. Right: These are metallic Speed Racer cars.

Desslar and Cardcaptor Sakura.

These cool kits are dedicated to Konami games.

To the right is the first level boss to Capcom's Daimakai Mura. On the Right is the character from Namco's Legend of Valkyrie.

Right: These are actually porcelain! Left: The Minerva from Crusher Joe.

Area 88! The sculptor's friend said that he didn't make any busts of Shin or Mickey because they're too "good looking." I bought the resin unicorn emblem.

Right: These are photoetched parts for Wave's Macross Destroids.

Large scale Blade Runner Spinners. I've seen these before, but I forget the scale. 1:12? I can't remember.

Alien stuff.

Left: Christopher Walken! Right: scratchbuilt personally designed starships.

Left: I believe this was Jean De Arc from the PSP game. Not sure...

Right: A Dairugger XV (Vehicle Voltron) toy... is it vintage, or faux vintage?

Left: Lots of Precure. Right: These are made with Yakult yogurt cups!

Right: The figure on the right is a character from the PC Engine/Mega CD RPG, Cosmic Fantasy!

Left: Rocket Racoon from Guardians of the Galaxy. Right: Amelia from Slayers.

Left: Longcat!

Right: Creepy Kewpie doll. Yuck.

Left: These skulls are sure to lighten up anyone's afternoon tea party! Reminds me of Grandma's house. Heh. No it doesn't. Right: It's a resin kit of the Nadesico!

Left: The girl riding the thingy looks like a Murata Range design. Right: The three ships from the shmup Soukyuugurentai.

Great PC Engine shmup resin kits! Left: The Phoenix from Final Blaster. Right: The Spriggan!

The Dragoon from Galaxian 3.

These ninja characters are from an NHK anime called Nintama Nantarou. It's a pretty dumb show.

Left: Isn't she beautiful? What's she doing with that severed head, though? Right: These two lovely sword maidens are entirely original design fantasy anime girl characters. Aren't they awesome? They remind me of Yuuko from the Valis game series or something.

This is apparently a poseable character of Yuna from Galaxy Fraulein Yuna!

Right: I've bought some items from this seller before. He sells resin upgrade parts for Fujimi's Blade Runner models.

Left: It's Etna from Makai Senki Disgaea!

Right: These fighters are from the Cave shmup, Ketsui.

Left: It's Elfin from Crusher Joe! Right: These girls are the mascots on the boxes of the Hasegawa Eggplane kits.

Left: This was a freaking R-9 Arrowhead toy that was an event-exclusive. Holy crap, how I longed to buy this. Alas, I did not. Oh man...

Right: Check out the neat Castlevania stuff!

Neat little game console thingies.

Left: These swords are from Fate/Stay Night. Right: SD Macross kits!

Left: Precure girls. Right: I dunno what she's from.

Left: Yuria Misaki from Yamato 2199. Right: Cardcaptor Sakura.

Left: Feena from Grandia! AWESOME! Right: Mechazawa from Cromartie High School.

Left: Neat Transformers stuff, including the cartoon-version Jetfire. Or Skyfire. Whatever his name was. Right: Those little guys from Rockman.

More Crusher Joe stuff! I bought the Siren garage kit to the right.

Precure girls. The ones on the right are Cure White and Cure Black, from Futari Wa Precure. It's the only Precure show that strikes me as halfway interesting.

Left: The Blade Runner girl makes a comeback this year.

Left: Strider Hiryuu! Right: Cyborg 009.

OK, here is where the company showroom begins. These Star Wars figures are by Kaiyodo.

Madhouse's display featured their Yamato 2199 Girls Collection figures. On the right are their newest figures.

Madhouse also makes preassembled starship models. These are from Yamato and Gundam.

At GSI Creos's table, they were selling T-shirts of their Mr. Color paints.

Well, that is the end of my picture gallery. I was becoming rather tired from rubbing shoulders with the slow-moving crowds all day. Be sure to check out my videos of this event:
